Minutes February 20, 2014

Attendance Michael Babin, Rob & Leslie Taisey, Mary Conroy, Thad Day, Marilyn Matthews, Margie Hansel, David Magee
Meeting called to order at 7:00 AM by Mary Conroy.
Presentation Marilyn Matthews introduced guest speaker David Magee, an Independent Life &  Health Ins. Agent. Dave discussed the new Affordable Healthcare Act which MANDATES health coverage for all.   One must either be insured, or suffer a penalty of $95 or 1% of your income, whichever is greater.  The same list of carriers, Anthem, Aetna, Assurant, Harvard Pilgrim, offer plans, plus now Maine Community Health.  The changes are both in rating, and plan definitions as to who qualifies as a “group.”  No more average rates apply, each individual in a group is separately rated. Plans match the government structured plans of Gold, Silver and Bronze.   Most the current enrollment has been for people age 30 – 60, families. Younger people still are not being attracted to comply with the mandate.  Small businesses can also qualify for credits up to 50% of the premium, but you must go through the exchanges to get that, at healthcare.gov.  HSA’s are now becoming strong recommendations.  Dave shared his cards with NYBA and is happy to answer questions for people who run into snags with the new programs.  Thad Day will send ideas to Mary C for next month’s speaker.
Discussion A motion was made to accept the January minutes, seconded and approved. Marilyn Matthews asked if an “affiliate” could join the Trade Show through Averill, but it was decided by the group if the person doesn’t qualify on their own, no.  It loosens the rules too much.   Next year we may want to address again who can exhibit, or qualify for membership.Trade Show Food and Beverages will be provided by members as we did last year.   Marilyn will send out a reminder to members and exhibitors.  Leslie provided a list of now 18 exhibitors that have signed up for tables.  The mailer was sent to all NY Yarmouth households and posters have been placed in many local business locations.  It was decided to have lawn / road signs printed versus making them.  Rob Taisey is meeting with Skyline Farm to do the table layout.   For door prizes, Marilyn will compile list of donated door prizes & keep planning committte advised.  Marilyn will also email Pam Ames about parking, a PA system availability, and where we can set up the food inside the exhibition.   We discussed door prize system, punch cards were mentioned with table #s to qualify for door prize. Final decision will be made on that at planning meeting 3/4/14 5:00 pm Toddy Brook.

Reports Leslie Taisey reported account balance of $1600.00 after some trade show expenses paid.   The total budget for Trade Show is expected to be $1700 +/-.People noted seeing the announcement of our election of officers in the Forecaster.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10 AM — Respectfully Submitted: Marilyn Matthews, Secretary
