Minutes – October 18, 2018

Darla P Hamlin called meeting to order at 5:15 pm with introductions around the table.

Speaker:

Thaddeus Day introduced Kevin Desmond, Managing Director of TalentRebellion, LLC, as our featured speaker. Old Business:

Acceptance of the minutes of the September 20th meeting was postponed until the November meeting.  

Treasurer report: Cash on hand $4164.47 (up $23 from the previous month)

Darla reminded attendees that we are always seeking people to speak at our monthly meeting. Anyone with ideas for topics and/or speakers should contact Thad.

The topic of using PayPal for dues collection was tabled for a future meeting. Also tabled for now is the member application redesign.

New Business:

A motion was made and seconded to repeat the Santa’s Helper program again this year.  The motion was unanimously approved.  This year will mark the third time that NYBA members have opened up their hearts to make the Holiday Season a little brighter for a local senior citizen or shut-in.  If you know of a person who could use some extra cheer this year, please contact Darla Hamlin at 831-0160 or by email at darla@softtrac.com with details.  In the meanwhile, a special notice will be sent out soon.

Holly Day agreed to assist with the shopping. Darla to ask Marilyn if she would care to do help again this year. Darla will make the stockings and solicit donations.  

Thad and Holly Day have agreed to host the annual Holiday Party at their home on Friday, December 21st.  This will be a potluck.  Details to be provided later.

Members News:

Mike Babin reported that he has a backlog of projects and needs help.

Thaddeus Day recently won a case for a homeowner under the Maine Home Construction Act.

Kevin Desmond reported that TalentRebellion has received their first national sponsorship.

Scott Kerr spoke of the project for Grover’s land in the village area.

Diana Logan reports that she is still busy and bookings are up for her pup start program.

Karen Morrison received the Francis Crowe Aware as “Distinguished Engineer”. She has also been nominated to University of Maine Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board.

Rob Taisey reported that business is good and that he and Leslie have become grandparents.  Congratulations Rob and Leslie.

Andy Walsh reported that he as officially sold ‘Fat Andy’s’

Dave White reported that he recently found a toy boat model that was part of the Malcome Forbes collection.

November 15, 2018 at Toddy Brook Golf Club. 5:30 PM. Kimberly Hamilton, PhD, President, FocusMaine will be our guest speaker.
