Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union
Presentation Our guest speakers from Atlantic Regional FCU discussed the excellent response they have enjoyed since locating a new office in Cumberland. They continue to bring added value to several community projects through local churches, schools, and social programs. They have assisted several local groups in fundraising efforts, have sponsored a “lunch & learn” series, and have contributed to the local Hunger Program through Cumberland Congregational Church.

The Credit Union platform is expanding to offer all services that larger financial institutions provide, including all levels of personal and commercial lending, i.e. mortgages, business loans, and lines of credit, checking, savings, money market, and investment products. Their service center for mortgages is also local to Maine, CUSO, domiciled in Hampden. They can provide all types of home mortgages including VA, FHA, and conventional. They are working with other credit unions for a “shared network” so clients have access to ATMs and Credit Union Services through the State. Membership begins with one account maintaining a $25 deposit. Many accounts are “no fee,” and provide unlimited transactions, some accounts also pay interest. They are equipped for online banking, automatic payroll deposits, electronic check scanning, and are members of the SERF network. SBA lending is also available.

Discussion After introductions Joe Lucey introduced himself to the group as a potential new member. In business for himself since 1996 as Joe Lucey Carpentry, his focus is on older home restoration.

Member Eric Bowdoin of Bowdoin Excavation attended. Eric specializes in excavation for Natural Gas pipelines, and also does other residential and commercial projects.

Reports Treasurer Andrew Walsh reported balance of $830 in NYBA account, with comment that soon another $200 will be disbursed to Tina Burnell for website work completed. Overall the group is pleased with the work Tina has done to build the site and link others to it. Thad Day will call Tina to ask if she will attend May meeting and give us a detailed presentation on the site.

Minutes of meeting held March 10, 2011 were reviewed and approved.

Marilyn Matthews will prepare renewal dues invoices to be mailed out early May with a due date of 6/1/11 to bring ALL membership dues current per bylaws.

Margie Hansel will be the backup speaker at May 12, 2011 meeting if Tina B. can’t attend.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10 AM

Respectfully submitted: Marilyn Matthews, Secretary
