Attendance Thaddeus Day, Andy Walsh, Margie Hansel, Leslie Taisey, Michael Babin, Dale Burnell, Marilyn Matthews
Guests Tina Burnell, Left Shoe Creative
Presentation Thad introduced Tina Burnell who has designed and implemented our website for NYBA. Tina suggested the site might look a bit brighter with home page photo behind the header area, and perhaps some other strategically place photos of Town areas. Andy Walsh advised he will ask his daughter, Sarah, to take the photos. Site now includes a member list and links to those sites available. Tina can also effect a “plugin” Excel file to download member lists. She has set two email addresses for inquiries contact@ or info@northyarmouthbusiness.com. At present she is monitoring those, but this will be turned over to a member of NYBA eventually. Tina also felt adding business owner photos next to the officer list would be beneficial. Discussion followed on possible tracking of stats through Google Analytics. Tina is the admin for the site but will train or add as many “users” as we need, and will also train the next person to assume responsibility for the site. Also explained was Twitter or Facebook functionalities, but it was felt overall those are beyond what our group would need at this time.
Introduction Members introduced themselves to the group and Leslie Taisey attended this meeting to introduce herself as part of Stump & Grind and Assured Solar, with husband Rob.
Discussion Group comments were given on current trends for local business. Thad Day reported his office is fairly busy at present assisting both local and distant clients. Andy Walsh stated Fat Andy’s and Custom Interiors are seeing a lot of HIGH end work, both flooring and new construction. Dale B. said door business is still pretty constant but work is being done both new and repair on more modest home sizes. Mike Babin has many quotes out for jobs but not many have committed to beginning work yet. He is busy doing mostly repair work, smaller jobs. Averill Insurance is seeing an uptick in personal lines of insurance more than commercial. Many referrals from existing clients are bringing business in. Maggie reported the orchard is busy spraying, a significant part of their yearly work to protect the crop against fungus. Due to several inquiries, we will also consider having an evening meeting in addition to the AM monthly meeting, to allow more members to attend. It was felt a casual 5-5:30PM gathering at Toddy Brook would invite more members to attend. It was generally felt lunchtime meetings would not draw more attendance. That will also explore getting some presence for NYBA in the Town Newsletter.
Reports Andy Walsh reported balance of $833 in our account, and mentioned an additional balance is due to Tina for work to date. Marilyn Matthews will email, or mail, renewal invoices to members the week of May 16th. Thad reported Atlantic Regional FCU is considering hosting a community social hour once a month relative to the Cumberland / Falmouth Chamber of Commerce group.
