| Presentation | Roberta Pearson of Rumination Farm in North Yarmouth made a product presentation and spoke of her work raising Alpacas for wool products, and also about organic beef, lamb, pork and poultry sales that she does at her farm on Route 115. Some of the food products are grown on site. Her goal is to keep her business at a manageable size so she can produce the high quality fiber products, scarves, hats, shawls. She explained the different Alpaca breeds and showed how the fibers vary between breeds, and also educated us on the processing of wool through dying, spinning, etc. to create her finished products. At present her store is open from 11 – 4 on Sundays. Roberta carries a number of other “home made” products in the store, a VERY worthwhile visit for unique gifts. She also does online sales. |
| Introductions | Each NYBA member attending introduced themselves and their business and gave an outline of their operations and specialties. A brief discussion was also conducted of March’s meeting when Eric Bowdoin made his presentation for Bowdoin Excavation, specializing in pipeline work, leachbeds, and “horizontal drilling” under roadways. Motion approved to acknowledge and accept those metting minutes. |
| Discussion | No new member activity was reported since the last business meeting. We discussed the possibility of a presence at Skyline Farm when they host their HenryFest event, which is a fundraiser. Similar to a Funday Event, we discussed the possibility of renting Westcustogo Hall for a North Yarmouth Business Event, where all members, and perhaps some invitees could set up to advertize their businesses, similar to a trade show. We discussed possible time change for the NYBA social but decided to leave it at 5:00 pm third Thursday of each month for the present. |
| Reports | Treasurers Report indicated no change in checking account, balance of $1098.57. Leslie sent check to Dale Burnell to cover website fee. |
