North Yarmouth Business Association

Toddy Brook Golf Club Meeting Room

Minutes

Attendance Thaddeas Day, Leslie Taisey,  Janice Selig, Marilyn Matthews, Margie Hansel.
Presentation Marilyn Matthews, owner of Averill Insurance Agency in North Yarmouth, made an informal presentation to those in attendence on the changing insurance marketplace, and how economic, societal, and natural dynamics will impact the shift from the soft to hard market condition over the next few years.  While individual risk will still largely be driven by auto price competition, the property market will narrow and pricing will rise.  Strides are being made to attract new younger talent to this industry.  Companies are already starting to tighten underwriting guidelines, and price risks based on less availability of coverage options.
Discussion Margie Hansel suggested we consider a larger “Town” open house participation at SkyLine Farm.  She is working with other local businesses to plan such an event and NYBA may have sponsorship opportunities or perhaps make a presentation to a larger group that way.Based on presentation relative to insurance, further discussion involved how credit scoring, insurance scoring, and the cost of other insurances such as health insurance will impact the local busninesses going forward.
Reports The last reported balance in our checking account is $1098.57. No new members since, nor disbursements.Due to attendance the confimation of Leslie Taisy as Treasurer could not take place.

Meeting adjourned at 8:16 AM — Next meeting will be held March 8, 2012

Respectfully Submitted: Marilyn Matthews, Secretary
